Throughout Milngavie, there are many christians who believe in Jesus Christ
as the Son of God. While we in St Joseph's live our faith in the Roman
Catholic tradition, there are other traditions represented by 8 other
Christian communities in Milngavie.
It is important that we come together to share and celebrate
what we have in common. The following groups are part of this ecumenism.
Association of Milngavie
Churches
St Joseph's is a member of this association which is made up of the nine
Christian communities in this area. Each church is represented by the
priest/ minister and two members of the congregation. A list of Association
members is available here.
Friendship Circle
This group meets once per week with the housebound in the area as a support
to them. The Circle provides lunch and seasonal entertainment and is dependent on volunteers, especially drivers.
Friendship House
This
ecumenical centre on Park Road beside St Andrew’s Episcopal church is
supported by most of the Milngavie Christian churches. Fr McGrorry and
two of the parishioners are on the Board of Management.
You are very welcome to go in for tea, coffee or a light lunch. It is
also a good source for cards for all occasions. People at Friendship
House are welcome to join in the short prayer service held at 11.00am
each day. There are also meeting rooms which can be booked.
Christian Aid
The parish is involved with other churches in collections for Christian Aid.
If you can spare some time to help with the distribution of Christian Aid envelopes, please phone 956 1400 (or e-mail ) and leave a message for RICHARD GORDON
One world week
20-27 October, around the world.
Set up in 1978, One World Week aims to bring people together for one
week a year to remind themselves and their communities that we are one
human race, sharing one planet. It is a week to learn about global
issues and to take action locally on things that have a global impact.
If you would like further information, please phone 956 1400 (or e-mail ) and leave a message for FRANKIE
