Special Collection This Weekend

The collection this weekend will be for parishes in need in our own Diocese.

Mass for the Dead

On Tuesday 17th November at 7.30pm we will have a special Mass for all of our dead relatives and friends and especially parishioners who died during the year.

Prisoners' Week 15-22 November 2009

Prisoners' Week is an opportunity to remember all in our communities who are affected by crime and imprisonment - prisoners and their families, victims of crime and those who work within the criminal justice system. More details on http://www.prisonersweekscotland.co.uk/.

Sunday Plus

This leaflet which is a reflection on the Sunday readings is as usual available at the Church door. Please ask for a copy if you would like one.

St Joseph's Bumper Christmas Raffle

Donations would be gratefully received for our Bumper Christmas Raffle, particularly bottles, cans, biscuits, etc, to make up hampers. Donations can be left in the Sacristy or contact Cathy on 956 4487. Draw will take place early December. Many thanks.

60+ Club

This week on Monday 16th November, Ruby Younger will come and give a demonstration on how to make Christmas cards for part of the club time. Tea and coffee will be provided and there is a suggested donation of £2. All 60+ welcome. Club meets from 2pm - 3.30pm.

Certificates

In the Sacristy there are various certificates for all of the sacraments which have occurred throughout the year. If you think you should have a certificate, please come in and have a look.

Art and Craft Sale for Mitsidi

Dates for your diary 12/13th December, St Joseph's Church Hall - if you would like to exhibit any art or craft work at this please contact Anne Gilmore 956 3545 or Dorothy Parkin 563 7767.

Ongoing craft evenings on Wednesdays (7-9pm) in Church hall for anyone interested in making things for sale. Please enter by back kitchen door. Bring your own materials. Collection box for any unwanted beads/jewellery in Theresa hall.

St Joseph's Primary

Parishioners are warmly invited to the school next Friday, 20th November, to take part in the annual Schoenstatt Advent Assembly in preparation for Advent 2009. The adult assembly will take place in the Art Room from 1.30 - 3.30pm. The Sisters and Friends of Schoenstatt look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible. Tea/coffee and seasonal nibbles will be available.

St Joseph's Primary - Tesco Vouchers

Tom Reilly, Secretary of s Joseph's Primary Pupil Council, would like to say a HUGE ‘Thank You!' to those parishioners who saved up Tesco Vouchers for Schools. Your support has enabled the school to get exciting Maths resources - Bee Bot and mats; Maths Outdoor Kit; Maths Challenge Mats; Active Maths resources and Chinese New year materials.

Thinking Allowed Lecture Series - Cairns Church

Tenth Anniversary Roy Paterson Memorial Lecture entitled "The Eclipse of Religion - the Legacy of the Dietrich Bonhoeffer" given by Rev Andrew Frater on Thursday 19th November at 7.45pm. Tickets £6 from Cairns Office 0141 956 4868.

Archdiocese of Glasgow - Come Away a While

A day of reflection for parents, guardians and carers on Wednesday 18th November at the Archdiocesan Offices, 196 Clyde Street. The day will begin at 10.15 and finish with Mass at 1.30pm. Please book a place by calling 0141 226 5898 or email .

Ecumenical Service of Rememberance

.....for all those who died through drug/alcohol related problems, on Thursday 19th November at 7.30pm in St Alphonsus' Church, London Road.

The Milngavie Churches - Ceilidh

The Milngavie Churches are holding a ceilidh in the Town Hall on Saturday 21st November. This is a social event and all are welcome. Make up a table of neighbours, family and friends! Tickets £10, include a fish supper and are available from Graham Mill - 956 5155, . Please bring your own soft drinks.

Annual Memorial Mass Aid to the Church in Need

Aid to the Church in Need's annual Mass in memory of Fr Werenfried van Straaten, the founder of the charity, is being celebrated on Monday 23rd November at 7.30pm in St Bride's, Greenlees Road, Cambuslang. The main celebrant is Bishop John Cunningham of Galloway.

Kimo Peru Project Christmas Tree Festival

This takes place from 1st - 7th December at St Paul's Church. There will also be a Concert on Saturday 5th December at 7.00pm hosted by Sally Magnusson. Ticket donation of £5 from all Milngavie Churches, the Iron Chef and Milngavie Bookshop. Various times of the festival available on the noticeboard.

ADVENTure 2009

ADVENTure is now in its third year and is an inspiring and fantastic catholic event for young people (17 - 35 years old) focusing on advent. Music from the Vatican

The voice of His Holiness features on a new album by Music From the Vatican called "Alma Mater" it is a beautiful collection of modern classical music from some of the world's finest contemporary composers and will be available from 29th November. St Matthew's, Bishopbriggs - Cadder Cemetery

On Sunday 22nd November at 12.15pm in St Matthew's Church, Holy Mass will be offered for the repose of the souls of all the faithful departed who are interred at Cadder Cemetery.

St Margaret's Hospice - Light up a Life

If you would like to sponsor a light on the Christmas tree at St Margaret's in memory of a loved one, or go to the celebration on 29th November, please see the leaflets and poster at the back of the Church.

Marriage and Consecrated Religious Life

Fr Antony Jukes, a Franciscan brother and priest, will deliver a series of four talks each Wednesday of Advent at 7.30pm in the Church of Blessed John Duns Scotus, 270 Ballater Street, Glasgow. Please see the noticeboard for further details.
