Did You Know?........

Normally we should not come up for Holy Communion unless we have been at the Mass. If we come into the Church after the Gospel, we actually have missed Mass. Therefore……..

St Joseph’s Bumper Christmas Raffle

A big THANK YOU to everyone for the very generous donations and ticket purchases towards our Bumper Christmas Raffle which raised £1,050 in total. Thank you.

Special Collections Over Christmas

Each one of us has a limited amount of funds so I thought it would be helpful to note the various collections which will take place over the next couple of weekends:

Sunday 27th December – Pro-Life Movement

Sunday 3rd January – Justice and Peace Commission

Crib offerings – monies go to St Margaret’s Children and Family Care Society

Sunday 17th January – to subsidise the training of priests.

Music Group’s Advent Reflection

This will be held in the Church on Wednesday 16th December at 7.30pm. All welcome. Mulled wine and mince pies will be served in the hall afterwards.

SVDP Appeal

Art and Craft Fair – Church Hall – This Weekend

This will be held on Saturday 12th December 10am – 3.00pm and Sunday 13th December 11.00am – 3.00pm. A wide variety of art and craft stalls as a fundraiser for Mitsidi Primary School. Please come along and support us.

St Joseph’s 60+ Club

……..will meet on Monday from 2pm – 3.30pm in the main hall. Tea and coffee will be provided and there is a suggested donation of £2.

The White Cockade – January 9th

The story of the Jacobites written and narrated by Len Murray with music by Tha tigh’n fodham.. This will be held in the Church Hall on Saturday 9th January at 8.00pm. Tickets £5 by contacting Bill Paterson on 570 2853.

St Joseph’s Primary – Eco Schools Rag Bag Appeal

Please give us all your unwanted textiles – clothes, blankets, sheets etc., - the more and the heavier the better! Please bring the textiles to school in plastic bags. If you are unable to bring donations to school, please telephone 956 1600 and the school will collect. Pick up date is Monday 21st December. Thanks for supporting this very worthwhile initiative which helps people in third World countries.

Climate Copenhagen : Ahead of the crucial UN climate summit, tens of thousands of people throughout the UK, including Glasgow, marched to demonstrate their support for a safe climate future for all.

“Wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen, friendly old girl of a town” .!!  Hope that posterity will remember Copenhagen as the historic turning point in the quest to challenge climate change.

Advent Lectures

Prepare the Way

16 – 35 years old? Come along to an evening of Advent prayer at the Archdiocesan Youth Pastoral Centre at Our Lady of Consolation, 130 Inglefield Street on Monday 14th December. Musicians are invited to bring instruments. More details on the noticeboard.

ADVENTure 2009ADVENTure is now in its third year and is an inspiring and fantastic catholic event for young people (17 – 35 years old) focusing on advent. Marriage and Consecrated Religious Life
